Within the past year, i have begun getting what looks like a small cluster of sores that occasionally appaer in varying locations on the head of my penis. The affected area, in appearence, would look red like an infection but the sores at the center of the affected area themselves look red, sometimes white, like really tiny pimples. I still have the foreskin i was born with and tend to get these tiny sores within the foreskin and around the head of the penis. When these sores are at there worst and are irritated by urine, the simple act of going to the restroom, or pulling my foreskin back over the cluster, the affected area becomes irritated and burns. I do keep myself clean physically so i assumed the condition to be either infection or STD. These sores don't appear often, i've only had one "outbreak" this month and the last time they appeared was in March 2009. My question is, infection or STD?

Since you've had them for so long on and off it would be wise to just get it over with and see a doctor. You are correct it could be a mild form of herpes, one of a million skin diseases, or simply an infection. With these types of things when it's not very prominent it's hard to say.
