About two weeks ago I had unprotected intercourse with a girlfriend that I had been seeing awhile. We started out having protected intercourse until two weeks ago. She assured me she was tested before me, and all was good. Famous last words. I have been to the doctor, as you will read when you go through my timeline. I have kept extensive notes. If this is not better by the 15th I am going to the ER to get another opinion. I would appreciate it if you all would read through what has happened the last two weeks and post your opinioin so I can be better informed for when I go back to the doctor.

Day 1 We had unprotected intercourse three times. I got real bad friction burns.

Day 2 intercourse again.

Day 3 More intercourse, and more friction burns, though the friction burns from the first encounter had healed.

Day 4 Nothing.

Day 5 intercourse and more friction burns.

Day 6 Woke up and my penis was sore and slight pain when I urinated.

Day 7 Symptoms of day 6 gone. All is well.

Day 8 Had intercourse several times. Each time intercourse was a little more painful for me. The last, the third time of the evening, intercouse was painful and ejaculation really hurt. When I looked at my penis afterwards, it looked like it was in a fight and gotten beaten up pretty bad, plently of red marks on head.

Day 9 Awoke with really bad stinging sensation when urinating. Pain in genital area. Also had friction burns. A stupid thing I did was there was this one hair in the friction burned area on the lower shaft right side of my penis that hurt, so with a pair of tweezers I pulled the hair out which in several hours turned into a big hole with a little pus filled crater that is still present to this day.

Day 10 Burning during urination is worse. Redness around tip of penis from the opening of the uretha.

Day 11 Went to the doctor. Also had weak flu like symptoms. He believed it was Chlamydia and treated me for both Chlamydia and Gonorrhea with 1 g of Azythromicin and a shot in the butt of something that I can't remember the name but it was like 125 units. He also had me give blood and urine at the lab. UTI was ruled out shortly, but the rest of the tests will not be ready until a few weeks.
The doctor asked me if I had blood in my semen, which I did not know the answer, so went home and performed solo, sure enough I saw just a tiny amount of blood. I haven't been able to get a hold of the doctor to tell him this.

Day 12 Flu like symptoms completely gone when I woke up. Still have rash at tip of penis and pain urinating. Also pleasured myself solo and no blood was present this time. Later in the day two small rashes on the lower left side of my penis shaft popped up. One had a small opening. the other was flat still with what looked like a little pus in it.

Day 13 Same symptoms as Day 12 (pain when uninating, the ingrown hair wound and two rashes) but now I have sharp pains that come and go in my testicles. Also, my buttocks area near my anus is sore, feels like I did a bunch of squats, uncomfortable to sit.

Day 14 Same symptoms as before, Day 13, butt pain a little worse. In the morning noticed another rash, this time on the underside of my penis right near the head. The rash seems to be connected to the rash that is around the tip of my penis that I've had siince this all started. The rash looked like a insect bite, hard to tell but there might be two small areas of pus in it. Also had another insect bite looking sore near where I pulled the ingrown hair out on the lower right side of my penis shaft. Popped it, not much happened. At night noticed that the lymph nodes on the left side of my groin were a little swollen and warm to the touch.

Day 15 (Today) Same as day 14. Still burns when I urinate, but not near as bad as it use to, though the rash at the tip of my penis and that has been there since the burning urination started is definitely a little bigger and more red. The rashes and ingrown hair wound have all gotten a little smaller, except for the one on the underside of my penis near the tip. Their seems to be a little hole in that rash and I can see just a little small, like the size of a pin head pus pocket. Butt/lower back still hurts, pain in testicles still but not as frequent. Lymph nodes seems a little smaller.

NOTE 1 - I have had loose bowel movements since this all started.

NOTE 2 - I have been treating the sores/rashes with Bacitracin.

NOTE 3 - My girlfriend has the worst vaginal odor I have experienced in 20 years, but hey, I'm dating her for her personality so I didn't think anything of it.

Well sounds like an infection and the doctor obviously thought so too. The blood part really isn't a good thing and loose stool could be a million different problems.

Blisters and rash could be something like herpes but it's pretty early. There's not much we can tell you here. You went to the doctors and that's the most important part. Like you said get another opinion or even get back to the doctor you saw before and let him know whats going on. Heck print out what you wrote here and hand it to him if you have to.

Get a test for herpes type 1 and 2 and see what comes back and have a talk with your girlfriend and ask her what the hell is going on here. That's what I would do.

If the moderators of this forum do not mind, I would like to keep posting about this since my infection does not seem typical.

Day 16 The burning sensation when urinating is a little less than the day before. Redness around opening of uretha seems a little less. Have not had any testicular pain today. Butt/lower back pain pretty much gone. The sores/rashes from before are still present, with an additional two more small pimple like sores near the trauma site of the ingrown hair I pulled. Though all the sores/rashes are a little smaller today. The ingrown hair sore is the only one with pain, just a little though. Lymph nodes in groin area still a little swollen. It's been six days since treated for chlamydia and gonorrhea.

Day 17 (Today) The burning sensation is a lot less, on a scale of 1-10, I would say about 3. The tip, uretha opening, still as red as yesterday. The rashes/sores are lessening, healing quite well. I keep an eye on the two new ones that popped up yesterday. An interesting thing this morning, and now the most alarming to me, the light was just right this morning for me to see that the lymph nodes in the left groin area, where the upper thigh meets the lower abs, is big enough to see. Before I was just doing it by feel. But one can really see them when the light is right to make a shadow. I am pretty athletic, work out a lot so that area is well defined, so I am surprised I just noticed how swollen that area is. Before I complained about lower back and buttocks pain, now pain is not there but in the back of both thighs.

NOTE 4 - On a different forum, a poster if my girls odor down there was fishy, I would say yes, a little. The overall odor is really strong. Strong enough to smell when she just has panties on. The poster said it is possible that this is a fungal infection.

In case anyone is following this discussion I would like to post an update.

Well, I went back to the doctor last week and was only allowed to see a PA (I'm in the army and we don't have the best healthcare system) and she looked at one particular rash on my penis (the one near the tip, on the underside of the penis) and diagnosed me with herpes. She took a a culture and then a blood test.

Today, I got my test results over the phone. The nurse said it was a "Herpes Symplex Anti-body test" The test said "DETECTED" When I asked for any numbers associated with the test, she said "1 out of 160". She couldn't tell me anymore than this, she didn't know what the numbers mean, and the doctor and PA are not in. The culture from the lesions came back negative but that was because they had already scabbed over. All the other blood and urine tests for other STD's were negative.

So how would I interpret these results, other than the fact that I have been exposed to the virus at some point in my life. These tests where taken about 2 weeks after the symptoms appeared which would make it 3 weeks since the sexual encounter that started all of this.

Note: The PA said the pimple like sores on my lower shaft were warts. I kinda don't believe her since they are pretty much gone, except a new one popped up on the lower left shaft, but all the rest are about gone. This might be due to masterbation (couldn't help myself since me and the girlfriend are abstaining until she finishes getting tested.) I guess I am doing something to irritate this area? The lymph nodes on the left side of my groin are still huge and swollen, when I asked the PA about this she said it was my body fighting the HSV. Other than the lymph nodes and the rashes which are going away, I don't have any other symptoms.

Almost forgot, another symptom that I have had since the first day of symptoms is that the tip of my penis, where the uretha comes out, is still red and looks irritated.

Oh, and my girlfriend has her doctors appointment tomorrow, she still does not have any symptoms of anything wrong at all.

Well it may be herpes, but the question remains as to which strain. 80% of the population has HSV-1, which is basically the cold sores on your lip, so that's pretty normal. I would try and get a hold of the Doc and figure out if it's HSV-1 or HSV-2.
